The teenage years can be quite difficult for parents decided to educate their child. If a child has been home educated for at least a few years before reaching teenage years, then he or she will possibly be used to this lifestyle. It would be the best thing if a teenager learned how to educate himself or herself with support from his or her parents and others and is practically self-motivated and confident in his or her abilities. But what if that does not happen or if, for whatever reason, parents decide to withdraw their child from school once they reach their adolescence? Many parents when they are in this situation feel they are in crisis and that there are many problems to their ensuring an appropriate education for their child.
The decisions to home educate a teenager transforms the way parents feel their responsibility to make sure that they obtain an appropriate education to their child. Rather than handing a great part of that responsibility over a school, parents are at the moment straight in control of all of it.
Many teenagers go through stress when they are first removed from school as they need some time to find themselves again. Some of them may react in the oppositely and study excitedly, because they feel they must to do this.
The first thing for parents to do is re-evaluate their role as parents and keep the communication with their children. They should educate themselves on learning styles and methods and widen their horizons outside what was expected by the schooling system. Above all, they should also keep in mind this is team work.
