| Home Schooling the Preschool Children | Every child has unique interests and learning needs. Therefore, for parents who are thinking whether homeschooling is for them, it is best to do an initial assessment of needs of a preschool child.
For every age group of children, parents or tutors should use various methods and techniques during homeschooling process. With the purpose of knowing which methods and activities are the best and the most useful for a specific age group, the list of learner’s interests may be extremely helpful.
Children of the age of two are supposed to be the most difficult to deal with as the child often gets uninterested and sometimes irritated when in the process of teaching. It is natural for so little children to be very active as they are discovering the world surrounding them. That is why it is very hard for them to sit in one place for a long time. In order to catch their interes different stimuli are needed to be applied. Children of this age group are mainly ready to learn, frequently walking around. Ordinary behaviors of children of this age comprise self-interest and possessiveness.
Homeschooling three-year old child is even more annoying. Children of this age are more physical in affection and in play. They do not mind change, love having friends to play with, and they take verbal instructions very well. Parents should use these features of their children to motivate them to participate in learning activities. At this age, they are already able to communicate their needs.
Four-year old children are typically able to work with different home thing, for example with scissors. They begin to learn to draw and enjoy a lot of physical energy. Parents should let them try all new things, as this will be their interest. Because of being very imaginative parents should give them a chance to increase and express this creativity.
Parents should also remember that all children grow at their own rate, and in their own ways. To achieve sucess for the home schooled preschooler, parents and tutors should trust them and give them enough freedom to explore, inquire, and learn all possible.
