 According to the National Home School Association, home schooling is legal in all fifty states in the United States of America, but there are regulations and requirements in several of them.
Today all state compulsory education laws obviously make home schooling legal. State also interprets compulsory school attendance laws to include attendance at a school located at home.
Though, each state, province or region has its own laws concerning home schooling, some of them are indulgent. Some home schooling laws just require parents to inform their local school region about their decision to home school their children. Anothers oblige parents to fill out paperwork as if they were a private school. In every state, parents must, at a minimum, inform a state or local education agency about their intention to educate their children at home. Parents do not need teaching certificates in all states accept Michigan that requires the participation of a certified teacher. Even in Michigan, however, court decisions have restricted the scope of this requirement. Such states as Massachusetts, Minnesota, and New York regulate seriously home schoolers about curriculum plan, testing of students, education or testing requirements for parents.
