Home Schooling Laws in South Africa.
Though there are some restrictions and government requirements, home education is beginning to increase in South Africa.
Home Schooling is legal by national law, but every province has some authority to control it.
The Minister of Education has said that a new policy will be implemented that would force all schools to employ only state-created materials, would mandate that all instruction be done from a religiously neutral perspective, and from specially-trained politically-neutral teachers.
This would all be greatly managed by the State.
There are anywhere between 100,000 and 150,000 home educating families in South Africa.
This is almost a three-fold increase from ten years ago, and it has caused the National Education Department to start a study on the real effects of home schooling on children.
Home schooled children can enter college or university throughout the usual entrance exams.
