Nature Study: This method lies in spending time outdoors for example in the fields, meadows and woodlands that provides the setting for nature study. Parents should encourage children to look cautiously at different aspects of nature surrounding them and to enter their observations in their individual nature notebooks. The name, location and date of observation of all drawings must be given too. Parents may use field guides to help their children identify their findings.
Math: This method lies in the importance of children's understanding math concepts before doing paper and pencil tasks. Children use calculating in order to think through the ways of solving word problems. It is not recommended to move on to the next lesson or concept until a child has overcome the current one.
Poetry: Poetry is not presented for analyzing and criticism. Poetry just introduces the child to great ideas of the past and makes him or her to think about it, developing child’s own relationship with that poet and his thoughts. Parents should read and declaim poetry aloud often, enjoying the poem together. Is possible for parents use poems about nature, the seasons, holidays or life events for this purpose.
Grammar: Charlotte supposed grammar is a difficult notion for young children to understand. That is why she recommended putting off the official study of grammar until the child reached the age of ten. The practice in narration, dictation and copy work is the substitution of grammar as is practically the basis for grammar study.
Bible: The method of studying the Bible is very easy as it lies in reading or listening to it every day. Parents should give a child a chance to understand passages directly from Scripture, and assign several big pieces to remember and then narrate. Parents should be careful as for sections depicting unsuitable sexual conduct while reading to young children from Old Testament accounts.
